Communication with or entry into Alternative States or reality or 2. Manipulation of subtle energies associated with the Cosmos or the human body Magic Square: A magic square is a square array of numbers with the property that the sum of each row , each column, and each diagonal is the same. Krishan, the hero, defends himself with 'shafts' that behave like anti-ballistic missles It is fairly obvious that certain terms like 'arrow' have a very different meaning in the original epic than they now carry in translation. One special 'arrow' was a weapon so powerful that it could not be used safely since it would damage both sides in a contest and hence it had been banned by the gods as an instrument of war Krishna's 'favourite fire weapon' was a disc capable of cutting a flying machine in two.Something called an "Agneya Weapon' was described as a 'blazing missile of smokeless fire'. A thick gloom covered the battle ground.Fierce winds started up and in a description that is virtully identical to that of a nuclear explosion Maharaj Ji, Guru: Prem Pal Singh Rawat was born in Hardwar, India in 1957 and declard a 'Perfect Master' only 8 years later. While still a schoolboy in the closing years of the Victorian era, Ramana Maharshi died, or at least underwent a death-like experience that convinced him of the reality of spirit.Determined to find out more of spiritual thins, he left home to become a wandering mystic and eventually attracted a following, some of whom like Dr Paul Brunton, recorded his doctrines.Ramana, essentially taught that the 'true self' was identical to God, while the demands of 'the ego, or false self', had to bow to a higher truth - if enlightnenment was to be achieved Mahatma: A term derived from a Sanskrit word meaning 'great one' used in occult terms to refer to the true masters of Esoteric knowledge, who have achieved perfection and are suited to act as gurus and teachers to humanity Maitreya (Buddhist, Chinese ,New Age - Ascended Master): Also known as Buddha of the Future, Future Buddha, Lord Maitreya, Lord Maitreya Maitri, Happy Buddha, Hotei, Laughing Buddha, Maitreya Buddha, Miroku-Bosatsu. Maleficia: A word carried over into Medieval literature from the Latin for 'evil doings' and applied to misfortunes and calamities of all kinds for which no immediate causal explanation might be given.Maleficia became inextricably women into the idea of witchcraft and with the work of the devil, to a point where the word became synonym for 'witch' Malleus Maleficarum: Literally, 'the hammer of witches' a book published in 1486 by two members of the Inquisition, the period from the 15th- 17 th centuries when the Roman Catholic Church, sought out and punished heretics. In its time it was considered the leading work on th identificatio nof witches and their practices. It identified four prime points that characterised the witch Renunciation of the true Catholic Faith,Devotion to evil,Offering unbaptised childeren to the devil, and Unbridled lust Mammon: Mammon was not originally a demon but simply the Syrian term for 'money or riches'. Derived from the Sanskrit for 'circle', a Mandala is a symbolic Diagram of the Universe used for ritual purposes in Buddhism & Hinduism. It is also frequently reprented in Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan Buddhist art, and has appeard in various forms in Christianity, Gnosticism and other religions, as well as in mythology and Alchemy. The Mandala generally consists of a group of Cosmic Deities (for their symbols or associated magic syllables) that are arranged in one or more circles surrounded by a square and orientated toward the points of the compass Some of the earliest Mandalas were laid out architecturally, as at the Buddhist temple of Borobudur in Java and the Samye monastery in Tibet. They were also frequently drawn in powder on the ground for use in initiation rites. From the 9th century, Mandalas were painted on walls or on cloth or paper.Images of Mandalas are often visualised in the mind during meditations practices. The Swiss psychologist Carl Gustav Jung considered the Mandala to be what he termed an archetype, a Universally occurring pattern associated with the mythological representation of the 'self' In modern psychotherapies the Mandala is used as a therapeuitic tool
Manning Matthew: Born 1955.Showing signs from a very early age of psychic abilities. One of Britain's most powerful Psychics.Demonstrated the same abilities as Uri Geller.Bending metal by means of concentration.Like Geller he volunteeered for Scientific testing, travelling widely to meet Scientists. The Toronto Society for Psychical Research, concluded that his abilities were associated with an unknown form of electro-magnetic phenomena, the manifestation of which was accompanied by changes in Manning's brain-wave pattern. The broadly-based nature of Manning's talents - was that he could see Auras, create psychokinetic effects and produce automatic writing alongside many other phenomena. On a pilgrimage to India, while meditating in the Himalayas, he decided to dedicate his life to Psychic healing and has done so ever since
Transcendental Meditation is essentially a mantric art since, on initiation its practitioners are given a personal Mantra, attuned to their individual vibrations. But individual 'tuning' is unnecessary, to judge by the millions of Orientals who use 'off-the-peg' mantras in their Meditation practice.Of these perhaps the most widely known is the Mantra 'Aum mani padme hum' associated with Buddhism and usually translated as 'Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus' Another equally well-know in the Middle East, is the Islamic mantra 'Hau allahu alazi lailaha illa Hua' (He is God and there is no other God than He). An example of an ancient Egyptian Mantra is 'A ka dua, Tuf ur biu, Bi aa chefu, Dudu ner af an nuteru' ( I adore the might of thy breath, supreme and terrible God, who makes the Gods and Death to tremble before Thee) For practical purposes the meaning is of little importance.Mantras became popular because of their usefulness in creating changes in consciousness or mentation You can gain some insight into the use of Mantras by experimenting with the Mantra 'Aum manui padme hum'.Try chanting it aloud at first.Make it sonorous and run the final mm of hum into the beginning of aum.Rhythm and pronunciation are as follows Aw-um mah-nee padmeh hummmmm um mah-nee padmeh hummm..... After you have listened to it aloud for a few cycles, lower the volume progressively until yu7 'withdraw' the sounds into your mind and continue pronouncing the mantric cirlce mentally.Experiment with speed until you find a rhythm which grips your attention so that extraneous thoughts are thrown out by the spinning Mantra. The effect i very similar to getting a tune into your head that will not go away. The Mantra spins and expands to fill your consciousness until there is no room for anything else. Even if you are aware of the meaning of the phrase you are using, that meaning is soon lost, in the same way that your mind blanks out the meaning of a word you repeat too often Once the spinning Mantra is firmly established, it will continue with no conscious effort, leaving you free to relax more fully with an untroubled mind. When you wish to return to your normal mode of consciousness, slow the spin rate of the Mantra, then 'externalize' it by pronouncing it aloud a few times before stopping altogether
Although generaly associated with China and South East Asia today, historians believe it likely that the martial arts were actually developed in India and subsequently exported more that 1,000 years ago. They may have come into being within monastic communities whose religious convictions forbade the use of weapons, but whose environment was sufficiently dangerous to require that they protected themselves. The spread of the martial arts into our Western culture began in the early years of the 20th century with the introduction of Jiu Jitsu. This was quicky followed by the arrival of judo, karate, aikido and many more.Judo was officially adopted as teh preferred unarmed comabat technique of Westerrn armies as long ago as 1908. In their Western expression, however, the martial arts tend to emphasize the physical at the expense of the Spiritual and almost no use is made of the subtle energy aspects which characterize the Oriental practice Mary, the Beloved Mother (Judeo-Christian,Catholic - Deity & Ascended Master): Also known as Mother Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe,Virgin Mary,Queen of the Angels.Mary's historical data isn't well known, as the four Gospels that describe her don't go into much detail.Other documents about Mary, such as the Proto-Evangelion of james, discuss her birth, childhood and adulthood, however, scholars can't agree on the validity of such texts. And then there are the New Age books, which provide information about Mary's life based on channeled or regressed information The Gospel say that Mary lived her live in Nazareth, which was a small working-class village. She lived with her husband, Joseph, her son Jesus and according to historians, Joseph's four sons and one daughter from his first marriage.Because Joseph worked outside the home as a carpenter or furniture maker. Mary likely spent most of her time tending to family and household needs. Most women in Mary's time didn't receive any education or literacy training.Historians and religious scholars speculate that Mary led a difficult life, struggling to raise enough money for food and taxes, and trying to avoid the dangers of ongoing military and political uprisings New Age authors speculate that Mary may have taken baby Jesus to Qumran and temporarily lived among the Essenes, where they both learnded the mystical secrets of the Dead Sea Scrolls. They also hypothesize that the brothers and sisters in the household were also offspring of Mary & Joseph. Many modern-day people, especially children, have seen visions of Mother Mary in places such as Fatima, Lourdes, and Guadalupe.Mary's apparitions and the messages that she delivers to those who see her help us recognize the presence of miraculous masters amongs us Mary has been called 'Queen of the Angels' and her famous interactions with Archangel Gabriel during the annunciation certainly herald this title. Her present persona, too is definitively angelic. She's among the most loving, patient and kind of the ascended masters. The angels love her, and they work with her to effect miracles.Yet behind her gentleness, there's a firm 'mother bear' who lovingly warns us to shape up Mary is especially concerned with children, and she counsels us to use wisdom, intelligence and love in our parenting decisions. She's especailly watchful of the new 'indigo & Crystal Children' who bring gifts of salvation to planet Eath.Mary will assist anyone whose life purpose involves helping these young ones, and she will open doors to child advocates. She helps those whose intentions are benevolent toward children, including those who seek to abolish chemicals that harm children's psyches, including dietary pesticides and additives, and psychoactive medications such as Ritalin. She helps with the adoption of Children & all other issues related to them, she also supports those who help Children,Helps with Fertility issues, Healing of all kinds and Mercy Maslow, Abraham (!908-1970): One of the founders of Humanistic Psychology.Born in 1908 in New York as the son of a Russian Jewish immigrant. He did early research work on monkeys, going on to sudy Native American culture, then taught Psychology at Brooklyn College and Brandeis, where he did his major work on peak experiences and self-actualization.Maslow's work and thought has powerfully affected the way we think about ourselves.Unlike most Psychologists of his day, he did not study neurosis and human weakness. What he was fascinated by were - self-actualized' people - the exceptional, healthy, fulfilled and emotional well-being have influenced the fields of psychology, counselling, education, health care, business, management, marketing and theilogy. A great visionary and inspiration to many in his lifetime, he has helped change long-standing popular values about how to lead a worthwhile life Materialisation: The appearance of apparently solid objects and spirit entities out of thin air.Materialisations were a popular phenomenon during the height of spiritualist seances in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many instances of materialisation were observed and even photographed during this period, including the materialisation of objects (apports) such as cups, coins, flowers, animal spirits, body parts, such as human hands, even complete spirit forms. Some mediums exhibited the ability to dematerialise and then rematerialise parts of themselves The fact that seances often occured in darkened rooms made it easy for fraudulent mediums to fake materialisations, using sleight-of-hand or various ingenious stage props.Materialisations of complete spirits, usually turned out to be the medium himself or herself, wrapped in muslin or wearing a more elaborae disguise. Some mediums, however were never successfully exposed as frauds *also see apport* Mathers, S.L. MacGregor (1854-1918): One of the most intriguing and influential figures in the entire Western Esoteric Tradition, and remaining one of the most mysterious. He still lacks a definitive biography and only the broad details of his life are easily accessible. He grew up to be a scholarly individual fascinated by the world of the occult. He spend a great deal of his time in the British Museum Reading Room consulting ancient Esoteric texts. His lasting achievements include translations of a great many grimoires and magical works, including 'Armadel, the Key of Solomon' and the fascinating 'Book of the Sacred Magic of Abra-Melin the Mage' He was a key figure in the establishment of the Golden Dawn, having been consulted to decode the famous cypher manuscripts discovered by Wynn Westcott which provided the impetus to found that influential magical Order. Mathers also wrote most of the Order rituals in the forms they were used and quickly became head of the organization under the guidance of the Secret Chiefs Maya: A term from Hindu phjilosophy meaning illusion, in the sense of mistaking appearances of things for their entrinsic nature Mazes: Like a Labyrinth, Mazes are physical expressions of secret knowledge. To reach the centre you have to know or work out, the way. It is a left brain task that requires logical sequential, analytical activity to find the correct path into the maze and out.Mazes, on the other hand, are multicursal. They offer a choice of paths, some with many entrances and exits. Dead ends and cul-de-sacs present riddles to be solved. Mazes challenge the choice-making part of ourselves. With a maze many choices must be made and an active mind is needed to solve the problem of finding the center. Labyrinths and mazes have often been confused. A maze is like a puzzle to be solved. It has twists, turns, and blind alleys.Common features in most mazes are trick corners and blind alleys. Maze building is an old European occupation. The English branched out from constructing hedge mazes and also built some of turf. Puzzle fans are familiar with two-dimensional paper mazes. In all mazes - the object is to find your way through the elaborately twisted paths to reach a specific goal.Mazes are found not only in gardens, like the turf-maze at Saffron Walden in Suffolk, or on the floors of churches, like San Miniato in Florence
Medicine Men: In the American Indian tradition, 'medicine' stands for the attributes - good or bad, that are inherent in all objects and can be interpreted and used by the skilled practitioner. Medicine men were known for their ability to walk on red-hot stones and cinders without injury, and even to put re-hot coals into their mouths. They claimed the ability to work both good and harm on other people at a great distance and practised many forms of OOBE,communicating with the spirits,Claivoyance including scrying and gazing into the surface of a bowl of water Medicine Wheel: A Native American concept of a sacred circle which is the focal point of the ceremonial life of the community as well as being used in everyday life,in forms such as the tipi, or the sweat lodge, the circular Council (where everyone is equal), dancing in a circle etc. The Native Americans see life as a circle from birth to death to rebirth, and the constant movement around the wheel teaches people to change (to become static is to cease to grow) The Medicine Wheel has four Directions (North,East,South & West) with special qualities and lessons to learn.North=winter, the time of resting for ourselves and the earth Mother, the place that represents old age and the time of changing worlds and forms. East=spring, the place of birth, and awakening, representing mankind's birth.West=autumn, when we reap our harvest and have found the knowledge needed to be at peace in oursleves. Each direction has a Spirit Keeper, a Spirit Being responsible for teaching the power of the Direction.Used in a proper manner, this Native American concept helps in our own healing and in the healing of the planet
The first - on which most Christian, Sufi and Yoga meditation techniques are based, is heightened concentration. The practitioner gives his/her undivided attention to a single idea or perception, seeking the total absorption which leads to understanding. If successful, a trance-like state ensues in which external awareness dims and the effects of competing stimuli die away.Experts believe this to be the oldest from of Meditation and its advanced practice can lead to ecstatic states The second, traditionally credited to the Buddha for its development, involves the passive examination of the changing content of individual awareness, taking care neither to select the content nor to cling to any aspect of it once another aspect arises. The aim of this type of Meditation is obviously increased awareness, but it also creates a very effective channel through which previously unconscious contents may present themselves to the conscious mind Medium: The term ' Medium' applies to those who allegedly have the ability, conscious or unconscious - to communicaste with the spirits of those that have passed on to the spirit world or those who perform paranormal feats and channel the Universal Life Force for healing & messages.Mediums have been know by various names - such as Oracle, soothsayer, wizard, cunning woman, wise woman, medicine man,prophet,shaman,fortune-teller,witch doctor, mystic priest & channeller.Mental mediumship uses techniques such as Clairaudience,Clairvoyance,Clairsentience or Automatic writing to communicate, whilst physical mediumship involves rappings, apports, levitation or movement of objects and other paranormal phenomena.Mediums usually claim to communicate with spirits through one or more entities called 'controls (spirit guides) which usually remain permanently with the medium.Prevailing theory among parapsychologists hold that controls are not external spirits but secondary aspects of the medium's own personality that become externalised. Although Spiritualism itself is a relatively recent movement, it began in the 19th century, there are clear parallels between mediumstic phenomena and certain Shamanic practices dating back to prehistory Meher Baba (1894-1969): He was born in Poona in1894 and was taught by various Spiritual Masters of different traditions. He himself taught for over 40 years and what was unusual about this and what he is best known for, is the fact that he kept silent. For him daily practice of love was all that was necessary and his work was an expression of this Melchizedek(Judais,New Age - Ascended Master / Deity): Said to be extremely tall with piercing blue eyes. Melchizedek's name is said to mean 'king of righteousness' or 'genuine or rightful king' He was a Canaanite priest-king of Salem (now know as Jerusalem) and was a teacher of Abraham.Ancient mystical texts describe him as one who conducts spirit releasement on a massive scale, working in conjunction witht Archangel Michael Descriptions of Melchizedek's history are conflicting. In the Dead Sea Scrolls, he's called Michael, and there's some allusion to Melchizedek being one and the same with Archangel Michael & Jesus. This latter speculation is echoed by Apostle Paul's letters to the Hebrews, in which Paul discusses Melchizedek and Jesus as both being high priests an that Melchizedek was a foreshadowing to Jesus' appearance on Earth. The Eastern spiritual text Nag Hammadi also discusses Melchizedek as being a past incarnation of Jesus Christ According to The Book of Enoch, Melchizedek was the child of Noah's brother, Nir.Nir's wife died before giving birth, and Melchizedek was delivered posthumously from his mother's womb. However, there's other speculation that he's actually Noah's son Shem It is said that Melchizedek made the first offering of bread and wine to Abraham for his military victory. He's even depicted as holding a cup or chalice in a stone sculpture from the Chartres Cathedral in France.Saint Paul spoke of Jesus Christ as a priest according to the order of (or in the succession of ) Melchizedek, because Jesus later instituted the use of bread and wine in the Eucharistic sacrifice at the Last Supper. The Council of Trent even discussed Melchizedek offering bread and wine and then Jesus instituting it at the Last Supper In New Age circles, Melchizedek is thought of as a group of high-level spiritual beings who are custodians and teachers of ancient esoteric secrets. The group is sometimes called 'the Cosmic Priesthood' or 'Order of Melchizedek' This group was described in Psalms 'The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, you are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek' Melchizedek oversees a switching station into which stream various colours of the rainbow. These hues are the energies of Universal Vibrations, given off by everything: the Planets and Stars, Organizations, and Thoughts and Emotions. His regulatory system could instantly rearrange and reorganize matter by remixing its energy colour components. This could be used to undo a negative situation, to increase flow and supply and to create or attract new substances or situations. He also helps with correcting unpleasant situations. Esoteric understanding,Manifestation, Purification, Shielding against psychic attack,Spirit releasement,Therapy involving colours (Aura-Soma,Chakra clearing, Crystal ,Reiki & Feng Shui etc) Melusine: A witch-princess from French legend. They told him 'the real story' and he became ill.Bender apparently to 'save mankind' kept the details to himself and gave up UFO reserach. There have been various reports of MIB visits since, mostly in the United States but also elsewhere, including Europe, Australia & South Africa *also see Fortean Phenomena*
Mephistopheles: The evil tempter of Faust, and a name for the Devil. The name is from Greek, meaning 'one who hates the light' Merlin (Arthurian Legend): In Arthurian legend Merlin was a sorcerer and councellor of Uther Pendragon and his son, Arthur. It was on Merlin's advice that Uther established the Round Table and found his true heir through the sword-in-the-stone test.Merlin was said to be a son of the devil, who had been baptised and so turned his powers to good account. He disappeared forever when the Lady of the Lake, using magic that he had taught her, imprisoned him in an enchanted thorn bush.Merlin represents an amalgamation of a Celtic sky deity and a Welsh or British bard who lived about AD 500 Merlin (Celtic,United Kingdom - Deity): Also known as Merddin,Myrddin,Merlyn, Emrys.A controversial figure, did he really live,or was he merely a legend ? He attracted la large followintg who believed that animal magentism - or mesmerism, as it was popularly called, was a cure for all manner of physical and mental ailments.Although often accused by contemporaries of being a magician and charlatan, mesmerism, in the form of modern hynosis, has now become an accepted psychotherapeutic technique. In Astrology, the Moon exerts a powerful force in horoscopes and in daily affairs. As the Moon moves through the Zodiac, different creative forces are brought into play and when the Moon is between signss, it is a time of uncertaintly and instability Morphic Resonance: A term coined by Rupert Sheldrake to describe the explosive acquisition and spread of certain behaviour pattern among wild animals. Experimental support for the idea of Morphic Resonance began to be established at Harvard University as long ago as the 1920's when the celebrated psychologist William McDougall began putting laboratory rats into of water, which had two gangways, one brighlty lit but leading nowhere, the other a dimly lit escape route. The first rats tested took up to 300 soakings before they learned the right way out. Later generations -McDougall kept up the experiment for 15 years, learnded progressively more quickly.Evaluations of the test series, indicated that the average number of mistakes make by first generation rats was 200.In teh last generation tested the number had fallen to 20.Understandably McDougall concluded the knowledge was inherited: somehow passed on cumulatively, generation by genertion, in the genes. But reasonable though the conclusion was, it transpired he was wrong Some years later an attempt was med to duplicate the McDougall experiments in Australia. But the scientists ther quickly discovered two fascinating facts. The first was that the rats they tested were substantially better at finding the correct exit right from the start. The second was that it did not matter wheterh you tested actual offspring from the original rats or took rats from the genral population which had never been tested at all: all second-generation test subjects did better than the first.Commenting on theexperiments, Sheldrake produced a clear deinition of Morphic resonance. If rats are taught a new trick in Manchester, he said, the rats of the same breed all over the world should show a tendency to learn the same trick more rapidly, even in the absence of any known type of physical connection or communication. The greater the number of rats that learn it, the easier it should become for their successors The most exciting aspects of morphic resonance is that it may apply to humanity as well as rats and other animals, explaining such historical phenomena as the accelerating development of technology in recent centuries and the fact that today's generation of children have a higher average IQ than their grandparents.Sheldrake decided to test his possibility experimentally and hit on the ingenious idea of using nursery thymes. If morphic resonance was a fact of human life, he reasoned that it should be easier for children to memorize strange, even meaningless, words from a foreign language if they had already been memorized before by millions of people Moses (Judeo-Christian - Ascended Master): The prophet Moses was called upon by God to lead his people out of slavery in Egypt and to the 'promised land of milk and honey' in Israel. He and the 12 tribes of Israel wandered through the desert and across the vast lands. Finally after 40 years of constant travel, Moses was compelled to climb Mount Sinai, where he received an assurance from God that his people would be led to their promised land.Moses received Commandments from God that he was to deliver to the Israelites. These commandments formed the basis for monotheism, the First Commandment being not to worship any other gods Moses was born in the 15th century BC.Egypt to Amram and Jochebed. The Pharoah, who was threatened by the increasing power and wealth of the Jewish people. ordered the murder of all newborn Jewish babies.Moses' mother placed her baby in a waterproof reed basket and set him to float down the Nile river, where she hoped he would attract the attention and compassion of the Pharaoh's daughter. Her plan worked, and Moses was raised in the palace of the Pharaoh as if he were born of royalty Biblical accounts that tell of God teaching Moses to perform miraculous feats include: Moses striking a rock that gave forth enough water to quench the thirst of an entire congregation and their animals, parting the Red Sea and walking through it, having clear conversations with God through a burning bush, making a serpent turn into a rod etc.He was a testament to the miracle of faithfully following Divine guidance.Moses helps spiritual aspirants and teachers of all faiths and religions. He also helps with dealing & negotiating with Authority figures,Clear communication with God, Courage,Faith,Leadership & miracle-working

The story was told in Bernstein's book 'The Search for Bridley Murphy' which became an International best-seller in the early 1950's.Although the experiments were originally designed to test Hypnotic Regression, within the subject's present life time, Mrs Tighe quickly recalled a Past Life as an Irishwoman Bridey Murphy, born in Country Cork in 1798 The Regression sessions provided an enormous amunt of detail about Victorian Ireland.Mrs Tighe talked about coinage, food, furniture, books, popular songs, farming methods and a good deal more. She was able to give the names of shops and frequently used words like 'flats' (meaning platters) which though current in the 19th century, were no longer a part of modern usage.Much of the information checked out, but not all of the investigators were satisfied that the information originated in a Past Life Music of the Spheres: A concept developed by Pythagoras, which still remains considerable power to fascinate, relating Planetary Orbits to the mathematical relationship between the tones of the musical scale Mysticism: A system of behaviour, belief and practise which derives ultimately from personal experience of Universal Unity and generally seeks to achieve that Unity again. The central Mystical experience, in which the individual persona is absorbed into a greater whole, is interpreted in differing ways by differing cultures. Thus the Christian might see it as union with the Godhead, the Buddhist as achievement of Nirvana, and the atheist as a Transcendent recognition of the essential nature of reality.Reports of the experience itself are widespread and do not rely on any particular belief system. It can and frequently does arise spontaneously, but can also be triggered by specific exercises such as Meditation and Yoga
