AMAZON WATERLILY: Victoria amazonica or regia

Is also known as the Giant Waterlily, Royal Waterlily or Queen Victoria Waterlily.The Nymphaeaceae is the family of water plants to which the Amazon Waterlily belongs. The family includes other waterlilies and the sacred Lotus. The family is found throughout the world in ponds, streams and lakes. Victoria Amazonica is one of two species of deep-water plants occurring in tropical South America in the slow moving backwaters of the Amazon

Although Europian origin, it was widely planted for its high quality wood in the uplands of north-eastern U.S. where it is known as common Larch

Mullein is a member of the Foxglove (Scrophulariaceae) family, which includes mimulus and calceolaria.There are about 360 species of the Verbascum, which are cultivated because of their beatiful stateliness. In the wild they are found mainly on dry, stony hillsides, on wasteland and in open woodlan in places as far apart as Europe, North Africa and west and central Asia. It is an abundant naturalized weed in eastern North America

This valuable nut and timber tree was taken north of the Alps by the conquering Roman legions. It is widely cultivated in California, Australia and all temperate countries for its nuts. It is also used both internally and externally as medicine. The Juglans cinereea (White walnut) grows in the northern part of the U.S. and the Juglans nigra (American walnut), grows over a large area in the central and eastern states.
